Here's a blast from the past; 2004 to be precise. I didn't direct or write this but instead shot and edited it.
This is one of a small selection of collaborative short films we made for no budget on a schedule of two days for each film.
If you're interested in production details I'll post in further detail.
Thanks for the comments and questions. Here are some answers:
What do you mean by 'no budget'?
No budget means we all put some money in for food and dedicated our time to making the films. We didn't have to hire the equipment since we were in the fortunate position of having it to hand. All in all I would estimate we spent 50 euros on catering, another 20 on petrol for transport and a little on props (for this film mainly cava; we drank it). For another short film we shot at the same time, we spent 10 euros on building a car mount out of wood. No, really. The best advice I ever heard for low budget film production is that if you have little or no money, spend most of it on catering.
What do you mean by 'collaborative' short films?
We were a group of a half-dozen and decided to spend some time making learning films. Everyone submitted scripts, we voted on which would be produced, then ascribed roles randomly.
What did you shoot with? Edit on?
We shot on a Canon XL-1 which still lives and does admirable service for small tasks. Nearly everything was natural light apart from a couple of sneaky shots. Since we had no budget, I didn't hire the lights I needed, I made them. We edited with Final Cut.
Who directed this?
The director was Marta Blanch, who also wrote the script. We all collaborated on the production.
